Bombay Sapphire visit followed by pub lunch
October meeting, pumpkin carving
Visits to the Old Chapel National Needlework Archive at Greenham Common, 'Celebrating the WI' exhibition'.
There were 2 visits to the National Needlework Archive in Greenham Common in September 2015. We were shown the Country Wife mural made the Country Pavilion at
the Festival of Britain in 1951. It is now undergoing conservation at the National Needlework Archive, and when the conservation is complete it will be displayed at the Archive. If you want to see more about this click HERE.
We also saw a temporary exhibition 'Celebrating the WI', as it is the WI centenary the Archive displayed some of the items from their WI collection. A couple of members bought the accompanying book which has lots of pictures of items on show and more. These will be brought to meetings for members to look at. |
A group of members and friends visited nearby gin distillery Bombay Sapphire. The tour included a drink at the end, a cocktail or soft drink (with a take home gin & tonic). Some of us went on for a pub lunch too.

National AGM broadcast at the Fox
A group of us spent the day at the Fox, Newfound to see the live broadcast of the National AGM. The link was not always perfect, but we able to enjoy the atmosphere, join in singing Jerusalem and the National Anthem, and listening to the excellent speakers. We had marvellous catering from Buddy and his team at the Fox, and also were able to sit in the sunshine at lunchtime.
If you want to see more about the AGM on line here are some of the links:
