Mel Rees then gave an amusing talk entitled ‘My Family and other setbacks’ but as he said it was more of a chat than a talk. He related anecdotes and stories about his life from his early days in Battersea, his teenage years, marriage and family life right up to the present day.
Following his talk a buffet supper provided by members was enjoyed after which details were given of the many forthcoming events and activities.
There was a competition for the best marmalade, won by Shirley G. Dru was presented with some flowers as she is leaving our committee, but staying a member of our WI, as she is now president of the new WI set up recently in Rooksdown, the Rooksdown Revellers WI.
