Our April meeting was our WI birthday party celebrating 106 years since our WI was formed. We were joined by friends from other Institutes in the area to eat, drink and listen to Jackie Dimmock. She served 30 years as a police officer and is a brilliant speaker illustrating her talk with hand made mini quilts which she has made herself. She recommends the police for making good mates and meeting a lot of people. Life is so different from the 80s for a woman police officer now. She does worry how backs will stand up to all the gear they carry now. This first talk was about her start on the Isle of Wight and we look forward to the next one of her time in Basingstoke at a later date. The Kirby silver salver was won by Sally D for a flower arrangement.
We had a successful jumble sale to raise money for our funds.
