Jenny led us for a 2 hour walk around Oakley, it was a lovely walk and the weather was very kind to us. Thanks to Jenny for organising it so well.

The October meeting of Oakley and Deane WI was a bitter sweet one starting with a minutes silence in memory of two members who had recently died, one of whom had been a member since 1967, and has only missed two of the monthly meetings in that time. The meeting for this month was pumpkin carving and members came prepared with all the necessary tools and aprons to create their own designs on the pumpkins provided which produced some spectacular results and no cut fingers! Two more members have recently completed the 100 challenge (a challenge arranged to do or make 100 of something in recognition of the centenary of the WI), one had played 100 rounds of golf and the other had made 100 cupcakes which were sold to raise funds for ACWW (Associated Country Women of the World) . October will be a busy time for members with many events arranged. In October there will be a local walk in the Oakley area with lunch at Jolly Ollys, a visit to Bombay Sapphire with lunch at the Watership Down Inn, the Hampshire Autumn Council meeting at The Anvil and the Loddon Group Meeting which will be held at Loddon Vale Bowls Club. November starts off with a Jumble Sale on the 7th, a Coffee, Cake and Craft morning on the 21st Nov at the Village Hall in Andover Road and a group outing has been arranged to Waddesdon Manor on December 2nd where there will also a Christmas Fayre. The Federation also have many events including a Craft Taster day and a Christmas Craft event. The November meeting will be a dabble evening when members can make certain items from the pages of books, samples were shown and they look really delightful and also a Christmas table decoration. The meeting is on the 10th November at the usual venue of the Village Hall in Andover Road commencing at 7.30pm. |
