How would they get there from Toronto?
Jenny enjoys the WI(closed group) on Facebook where WI ladies from all over Britain & some in Canada exchange messages & ideas etc.. So she asked on that page for advice on reaching Stoney Creek.
A Canadian lady called Shirley answered saying that it is impossible to reach the Lee Museum by public transport but if travel dates were given she would arrange a pick-up.
Details were given by private emails, and then when the day came Jenny & Ethel followed Shirley's excellent directions to the bus station at Hamilton where Shirley & her husband met them with their large vehicle & whisked them to a Canadian diner for lunch.
They were then driven out into the Ontario countryside to the Lee Museum where they were given a tour of the house & saw the table where the constitution of the WI was written in 1897. They also signed the visitor’s book.
Then they saw the barn opposite, bought a few things from the craft stall & enjoyed chatting with the Stoney Creek WI ladies over cool drinks & cookies.
At the end of the day Cleda drove Jenny & Ethel back to Hamilton bus station.
It was a great day, many thanks to Shirley & the Canadian WI ladies who made them so welcome at the birthplace of our organisation.
