He also showed slides of some of the beautiful churches and buildings in both Moscow and St. Petersburg and the treasures in them whilst also speaking about the history of both cities, so it was an evening of flowers and a history lesson.
Forthcoming events arranged include a lunch at BCOT, a jumble sale in March and a visit to Oxford when members can join a tour of the Bodleian Library or just visit the many attractions in the city. Some members will be going to the Spring council Meeting in Portsmouth when Janet Street-Porter will be one of the guest speakers.
This year is the centenary celebration of the WI and the AGM will be held at The Albert Hall on June 4th and arrangements have been made for this to be relayed via the internet so Oakley and Deane WI have organised for this to be shown at The Fox PH so members can see the meeting live with lunch and refreshments available during the day.
If you wish to put your name down for any of the events please go to the home page of this web site where all our events are listed with details of who to contact for those that are booking now.
Being the 100th year of the WI it has been suggested that a 100 challenge is held during the year when members can undertake to do 100 of anything during the year, possibly something active such as running, walking, swimming (miles) or even making 100 of something and entering their achievements on a board each month. It will be interesting to see what members come up with.
