The talk was given by a member. Nobody else could have such an exciting tale to tell of their father. Her grandfather, Curt, stood up for his beliefs in 1930s Berlin and died in Dachau. Her father found refuge in Britain as a teenager and joined the British Army. He changed his name from Claus to Colin and then trained with the only Commando unit who accepted enemy aliens (those who had the same nationality as the enemy). He took part in the invasions of Italy and Sicily. After the war he managed to find his mother in Frankfurt and bring her to live in England. He had a good life in England, marrying, having a family and various jobs and took up gliding as a hobby. He died at the age of 94, and 64 years of happy marriage. His father would have been so proud to know how he fought to defeat the Nazis.
